Don Imus and Rutgers...

A blog I created on myspace and decided to put on here as well:

Isn't it funny how screwed up of a nation we live in. A nation where it is ok to say certain things but when certain people say it, then we are in a freaking uproar. Example:

"I make it rain on them hoes" - Fat Joe "Make it rain"

"That's some nappy-headed hos there, I'm gonna tell you that now." - Don Imus (radio)

My beef is the fact that no one has a problem with the fact that Fat Joe degrades women in practically the same way Imus did. His song is degrading and practically inappropriate, however as soon as Don Imus says what he said about the Rutgers team everyone is offended.

And it was only a matter of time until Al Sharpton and others spoke out on the issue.
I am in no way defending Don Imus for what he said, it was inappropriate, but it makes no sense that we are so upset by this "bigotry"; however when a rap star says something and then a Caucasian says something similar, we spend 15 dollars on the rap stars CD, but demand the radio host be fired from his job because of his comments.

I applaud Rutgers for reaching the NCAA Championship, however I wonder how many of them, in all honesty, really have a problem with Fat Joe's song lyrics. It is obvious that C. Vivian Stringer and her team are upset with Imus, but why not speak up about the rap lyrics that people seem to find so great.

My ultimate beef comes down to the media and the Rutgers women's basketball team. Why be so upset about this comment when it is all over song lyrics that come over the some of the same airwaves? Why does the media always get so bent out of shape about every little bump in the road?

To the media - freaking drop the matter!

To the Rutgers Women's basketball team - think about what exactly you are speaking out about.

ENOUGH WITH THE DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!!
